On Easter Day 1865, with the Civil War all but over, a Union cavalry corps swept down on the city of Columbus, Georgia with the goal of destroying the Confederacy’s industrial heartland and with it the South’s will to fight.  They were met by a token force of nervous defenders in muddy trenches and forts north of town.  This is the incredible story of what happened when the two sides clashed...a story almost completely forgotten by history.
